Looking forward to the Star

Our vision, our gaze
fixed on Jerusalem
the place of David
where Christ was to be
that place of power
his life to come to an end
after his false trial
to lead us home again

Looking forward to the star
that the Magi saw
the natal star of Christ
heralding his birth
thinking too of their journey
traveling from afar
their sojourn through Jerusalem
enticed by Herod’s lie
