Such was his righteousness

This humble man
setting a firm foundation
how Christ would live
the example he would follow
not bound by the law
guided instead by mercy

Such was his righteousness
seeking to send her away
not having her judged, punished
striving to protect her
to save her honor
to be merciful
with compassion
on the mother
