They drew back and fell to the ground

The story in the garden, Gethsemane
after Christ prayed
when the betrayer came to him
a kiss to betray him,
challenging the guards
demanding their accusations
their reasons to arrest him
to save those faithful to him
to save the sons of man
stating his identity,
the One, the Son of Man

They drew back and fell to the ground
as Abram did before God
invoking the ancient name, I am
the Son of the living God
challenging them with that word
falling in worship before him
those merely with a job to do
servants of the leaders
soldiers sent to arrest the man
not knowing he was holy
bowing before the Christ
before taking him to judgment
