When Christ felt forsaken on the cross

When Christ felt forsaken on the cross
hanging on the cross
not cursing, not denying
praying to our God
the ancient words, the psalm
unfolding around him
despair turning to comfort
in the arms of our God
knowing the rest of the words
God’s coming to our aid
that is why he prayed.
