more to dream – v3

more to dream
in this land, opportunity
land of the pilgrims
of the slaves, the servants
of the righteous, the fallen
those who were martyrs

so much more to do
but it is within our power
as a people, a nation
our choice to be complacent
or to stand in courage
in our time, in this place

it is our decision
more to dream, to strive for
to stand as a people
to say no to the tyrants, to those
who would subjugate our people
we can lift up our neighbors

all to truly be equal
regardless of color,
our races, our differences
they make us stronger
all to be valued,
all sisters and brothers

too long strangers
divided by striving
the false dream, the lie,
that all could be wealthy
treating our neighbors
as competitors, rivals

more to dream
one people, together
united within us
one common bond, our creed
all to be equal, free in our persons
all one, in this land of liberty
