oh Lord, I would not
presume to request
to pray for (too much)
more, a double portion
but I would ask
for a portion of the mantle
of the poet, of the prophet,
this conscience of the nation
that I would be gifted
with a portion of the mantle
that the words which I write
would be imbued by the Spirit
I pray I would be given
deeper, greater wisdom,
that my words would be kissed
by Your song of creation
I ask Lord, I pray
that I would be gifted
with a portion of the mantle
of the poet, of the prophet
