these things too terrible
to have answers
why and how questions
seared in her mind
why was her son
the lamb anointed
climbing the cross
become our sacrifice
how does death
bring peace to the nation
even if Jesus is the Christ
these things too terrible
beyond comprehension
too much to bear
but nowhere to run
standing vigil
at the cross of Jesus
Mary alone
within her thoughts
