Muffled This Morning – v5

The sounds caught
as if in a spider’s web
the lowered clouds
with the sounds in their grasp

Muffled this morning
the world slow awakening
the mist of the morning
silencing the dawn

As if through cotton batting
the air pregnant, thinking,
muffled this morning
so slow to awake
