the power of the cross
was lost on the disciples
though they had journeyed
for three years
He even told them
a few hours earlier
when He changed
the ancient words
of the Passover meal
and He took the cup
and He said to them
this is the cup
of the new covenant
my body broken
my cup spilled
poured out for many
for the forgiveness of sin
Too much for them
no comprehension
the disciples running away
not toward the cross
