Is He Joshua – v4

A thought, a hesitant prayer, a murmur
on the wind, as our people look at history,
a changing of the guard, another generation
one who did not march with them;
A question on many lips this day
“Is he Joshua”, the one to come down
from the lofty mountaintop
the vantage given by God
to see the Promised Land?

Is he the one who is to lead our people
to cross over, into that new day,
that land promised by God, to his people
to lead us, together, to a new day;
A land reborn, with riches, compassion
true equality; black and white, young and old
rich and poor, all equal, no matter what;
Yes, together we ask, “Is he Joshua”;
will we reach the Promised Land?
