reaching to heaven
to be the tallest tree
making all who see them
every time they look up
to think of Almighty God
cut down and fashioned
made into timbers
covered by Christ’s blood
on that Friday morning
but empty on Saturday
free on Sunday
the stain of Christ’s blood
wiped clean Easter morning
an empty cross on that hill
reaching up to heaven
