All she ever wanted

all she ever wanted
was a hug from her father
in this life, this journey
while here on the earth
the love he held from her
the burden she carried
the hate she could not let go of
in this walk, this life

a hug from her father
when she had crossed over,
the words, “I Love You”,
dripping from his lips;
so is my prayer, my wish
for you, in your passing,
that you would get the praise
you longed for in this life.
