we are thankful to those who believed

We are thankful to those who believed
we are thankful for their faith
for all those who journeyed,
who followed God’s calling
for those who came to this place
and who loved this land as we do.
We are thankful to all of them
for making a way for all of us
to live in freedom and to share
the blessings of this slice
this piece of God’s kingdom.

We are thankful to our parents and
all of our ancestors for their faith, for their love.
We are thankful for them and for
all our loved ones both near and far.
We are thankful for community, for this place,
this special place we call home.
We stop at Thanksgiving to be thankful
to God, to all the others before us,
for all the blessings we have.
We stop to thank God for all
the blessings that we have.
