Christ’s moment of aloneness – v2

Christ, the living Son of God,
sent to the earth
to walk here with us;
walking with the Father,
serving the Lord;
going to the cross
that we would be restored

Impossible for us to comprehend
yet stark before our reading
somehow upon that cross
Christ felt abandoned
unable to sense God’s presence
truly, fully human, disquiet,
Christ’s moment of aloneness

Crying out to his Father, to God:
“My God, My God
why have you forsaken me?”
as if to say, “I have been faithful
to every word of the Law
walking as You have led me,
never denying Your call”.

But it was our sin within Him
God now our sacrifice
colored with our iniquity
about to pay our price;
God crying in heaven
darkness on the land
for the dying Son of Man
