why do we have to learn the hard way – v2

Why are we so broken,

so stubborn, so headstrong,

not listening to the wisdom

of our elders, of others?

Why do we have to struggle

to learn the hard way

being burned, injured;

why do we wander a dark path alone?

Why can’t we listen to

the wisdom of others

those who have walked

this same path before us?

Why can’t life be simple

breathing in their stories

learning from the experience

of our elders, of others?
