out of the trenches

Out of the fox holes

out of the trenches

rolling up the barbed wire

taking off the masks

once more able

to breathe free.

The Great War over

at the eleventh hour;

So much pain, hurt

so many lost;

A day of remembrance

forevermore, amen.
