The arms of the evergreens - v4

The arms of the evergreens – v4

Looking down the highway,

seeing the image repeating

something out of the ordinary

the way the pines were standing

alive, reverent, yearning

reaching up to heaven

in a chorus of praise.

Feeling something special

an image, personification,

something profound, shining,

beyond the shoulders, the embankments

looking into the distance, the margins,

beside the highway, the woods,

as we traveled north, toward home.

Seeing pure worship, reverence,

in each tree, their branches,

the arms of the evergreens

white pines mostly

raised, outstretched,

the sentries by the highway

watching the clear road.

Their arms outstretched, uplifted

craning, reaching, raised up to heaven

open arms singing, joy-filled

a holy praise, worship,

proclaiming the glory

of the sun, of the seasons,

of our Creator, our Lord.

Seeing pure reverence, worship

in trees beyond the shoulder

their arms outstretched, prayerful

a wingspan, a gathering,

leaving no doubt, urgent,

ready for eagles, for sunlight

for Spring soon to come.
