And it was night

 

And it was night,

of course, in darkness

the betrayer on the move

as soon as Judas

had taken the bread,

he went out,

and emptiness fell

upon that night.

 

“Go, go quickly”,

these burning words of Jesus

stinging in his ears

repeating, repeating,

entering the temple courts,

in secret, in darkness,

gone into the night

Christ’s Passion begun.
