We don’t want the storm – v3

We don’t want the storm, the unknown;
We want it to be easy when change is hard.
 
Our fears bind us, shape us, contort us;
We are taffy being pulled, wire being twisted,
on the edge of the abyss, mired in the pit, in the valley.
 
We believe the lie of Fear, of purpose, of work, of comfort,
of inertia, the Enemy, Satan, seeking to lead, to control us;
We forget our Good Shepherd, Christ who walks with us,
calling us to the water, to climb out of our boats, to believe.
 
Our fears hold us in chains, frozen, stagnated, paralyzed,
like pillars of salt, looking, failing to believe, to trust,
to rise, to walk upon the waters, to follow our calling;
We don’t want the storm, to feel rejection, struggle,
but the battle is already raging, burning within our souls.
 
We don’t want the storm, the pain, our perception of anguish,
but the war has already started within our spirits, our minds;
God walks with us in the darkness, calling us like the sirens,
wooing us to take the next step, to refuse to walk in Fear,
to listen to the world, to walk as risen people, in hope,
in belief, in our faith, in spirit and in light.
