brown of the earth

Speaking to our spirits,
finding a place together
goldenrod and asters
in fields of wildflowers.
 
Choosing their partners
sisters and brothers
gold and purple together
earth alive, ablaze.
 
Brown of the earth below us,
in merging their colors
creation singing harmony,
in fields of wildflowers.
 
Their colors hold us to the land,
returning to the fields,
these plant elders call to us,
within these wild places...
