the suffering of Ukraine

His North Star, his center,
all he ever was,
his reason for being,
his hopes and his dreams
all encapsulated,
from beginning to end
was the love of his homeland,
the suffering of Ukraine…
 
this was the well he pulled from,
the palette from which he would paint
the central purpose of justice,
freedom from want, from hate,
with every word he spoke,
the martyr for his people
was the love of his homeland,
the suffering of Ukraine…
