A domino, a proxy, falling

A domino, a proxy, falling, dying,
in days decades broken, vanished,
how soon will this fate befall him,
will he have some of the same end…
 
But will his end be an uprising, the people,
or will it rise from the inner circle,
a storm, like the house of cards falling,
a cup of tea, an open window, calling…
 
His days are so surely numbered, counting,
spiraling into chaos, the ether, a cauldron,
his life not worth a farthing, a penny,
far less than a single kopek, dirt, dust,
his fate in the pit, in the grave…

This poem is about the character Pontius Pilate in the novel, Master and Margarita,
by Mikhail Bulgakov, where Pilate is spending eternity, not in heaven or hell,
but trying to wash the innocent blood Jesus Christ from his hands.
This poem is transferring that same nightmarish judgment on Vladimir Putin
for the innocent blood of the people of Ukraine...
