Forbidden Fruit

Warned by God for our good,
danger in temptation, forbidden fruit,
though pleasing to the eye,
hidden torment lurking
present in each act of disobedience,
in our turning from the path of God…
 
Permanent consequences, eternal damnation,
never fully healed, even on the cross,
our lives forever marked, cursed,
by their disobedience, their legacy,
a curse brought on each of us
in their choices, our choices,
eating forbidden fruit…
