our words are daggers

Our words are daggers, cudgels,
spears to pierce the hearts of others,
weapons far more powerful than sticks,
stones that the ancients raised,
that create broken bones…
 
Our words leave permanent scars,
footprints in the sands of time,
They can never be taken back
once they are born, spoken,
once they enter our minds…
 
Our words can raise,
they can tear others down,
We must be mindful, careful,
because every word we speak
is a legacy, permanent in time…
