Branches of Jesse

In our calling, in his rising
in his ascending to heaven
our brother the Christ
to sit upon his throne

We now are called
to be the branches of Jesse
the righteous shoots
carrying on our brother’s work

Spreading the good news
of our savior, his resurrection
his sacrifice, defeating sin
death no longer having its sting

Carrying on where he had led
following the way of the cross
taking the narrow gate in life
trusting in God for all
