This Passover Seder

Unlike all that had come before
generation after generation
the telling of the exodus
the saving of the Lord
the people delivered
out of slavery in Egypt

The blood on the lintels
the eating of the lamb
the rush to the sea
into the desert,
finally into
the promised land

Now the bread
the wine symbols
of a new covenant
his body, his blood
saving all humanity
the price of our sin
paid for all time
by the blood of the lamb
the son of the living God
