Not yet scar tissue

the flesh of Christ
these many days beyond
after the death, the resurrection
while he walked the earth
here with us
until he ascended
still of the clay of earth

Not yet scar tissue
but healed of the trauma
the holy body of his self
still showing the affront
the beating and his sacrifice
softer yet reminding
of his great love for us
