Reclaiming the Law

In finding fault, judgment
against our neighbors, ourselves
denying the grace of God
remaining in the darkness

Reclaiming the law
putting back on its yoke
slaves to our sin
though Christ gave us freedom

Would that we had new eyes
forgiveness as did Jesus
seeking God’s mercy
even when hanging on the cross

Rejecting our sin,
the darkness, the shackles of the law
being his light
for all the world to see

The light shining
in the life of the Christ
coming down from heaven
to give us new life

New birth in the light
the rising from the grave
new life in heaven
at the end of the age
