You must hate your life

Turning away from the world
from family, commitments
you must hate your life
groundings in the world
turning to Him
to God, the Christ
to the calling, the yoke
the cross each one must carry
to those who believe
a hard teaching, for us
to turn from our past
to focus on the kingdom
to live as true disciples
following his footsteps
leaving the world
the way of the earth
going on to heaven
at the end of the path
walking as he would lead
following our master’s call
not enough to believe
not enough by half
