God’s awful cost
Christ’s sacrifice of blood
within the sweetness of the smoke,
burning Sunday’s palms
Wednesday’s ashes
the darkness of Friday
the foreboding of the season,
His pain and sacrifice
within the sweetness of the smoke
One fragrant offering;
Christ’s sacrifice worthy,
acceptable unto God
