Like a wake for a loved one

so is our altar

icons of the Passion

the sanctuary dimmed

a light upon his cross

the palms of Sunday

ashes from that Wednesday

The basin and the pitcher

the platen and the cup

His pictures, symbols

icons of his life;

The crown of thorns

and the cross

his walk here with us
