Like a wake for a loved one
so is our altar
the sanctuary dimmed
light upon his cross
the palms of Sunday
ashes from the start
the basin and the pitcher
the platen and the cup
His pictures, symbols
icons of his life
his walk here with us;
The crown of thorns
