Seeing the Words – v10

For me, for my spirit, my muse
writing is so much about, seeing,
capturing the lightning, the sparks,
seeing the words, the constellations,
points of light against the black sky,
stitches, threads of the tapestry
individual bursts of color, dancing
the mind’s eye of unconsciousness
dreams retained, written, scribed,
knitting the words into the tapestry,
the fabric they were meant to be
gossamer wings and steely gravitas
blended or plucked from the ether

The ether collected, as if in a net
fine grains of wonder, of life
gaining form, substance before me
gathered upon a permanent page
the threads gathered, an elixir,
saved for eternity, a purpose
such is the process of inspiration
finding the words, already stitched together
written in heaven, upon stones
woven tight with strong bonds
phrases and thoughts tied together
already formed, ready to be discovered
seen and scribed, printed onto the page

after disagreement

union in the body
in the spirit
within the family
husband and wife
after disagreement
in the struggle of life
work for union
an end to the strife

pursued by the shepherd

not waiting for us
open to our coming
pursued by the shepherd
his goodness, his love
God’s mercy following
God’s goodness seeking
God coming to greet us
out on the road
not waiting for us
open to our coming
pursued by the shepherd
his goodness, his love

a faithful pledge

a faithful pledge
more than we can say
giving more than a token
change on the way
giving all she had
giving a true portion
more than a tithe
giving faithful
to God, trusting
giving out of the harvest
what they had to live on

all she had to live on

undying faith
more than we can claim
all she had to live on
placed on the altar
given as a token
her trust in God
more than we can claim
giving from our excess
holding the rest
not trusting God

following me

as surely as the disciples
following the master
as sure as night follows day
so it is with goodness, with mercy,
with God’s undying love
surely these will follow me
all the days of my life
to keep me on the path
to keep me from all harm
surely I will rest
in the house of the Lord

higher than the law

Christ did not diminish
He did not destroy the law
calling us to follow
higher than the law
focused on our own hearts
not to judge our neighbors
even our thought convict us
causing us to stumble
to fall short of the living God

welcoming Gomer back – v2

tears in the eyes of Hosea
tears in the eyes of God
accepting Gomer back
into the arms of God
although we are unfaithful
going with other lovers
always welcomed back by God
each one of us Gomer
unfaithful bride, Israel,
all of us who claim Him
throughout the generations
none of us worthy of the name
the church, the bride of Jesus
welcoming Gomer back
all of us unfaithful
only by God’s mercy, God’s love
all called to God’s loving arms
to the bridegroom, to Christ
