how it must have been
for
Moses with a bush burning
a
fire not consuming
but
shining greatly
a
flag burning this morning
on
its pole in the cold of winter
the
sun which God created
setting
the flag ablaze
how
it must have been
for
those in the harbor
watching
for the dawn
to
see if our flag was still flying
a
visual reminder, a promise,
in
the trials we face as a nation
that
the flag of freedom burns
no
matter the attacks against her
