We are created in God’s likeness
in the image of Jesus...
We are to love as Jesus loved us,
as Jesus loves us now...
 
Jesus came from heaven
in the likeness of our flesh...
Jesus came to save us
because we cannot...
 
We are to be like Jesus,
to reflect His likeness...
We are to love others
because He loved us first...
 
Jesus while He was mortal
gave us this commandment –
to love everyone fully
as Jesus loves us now...

A Holy God sent Jesus

God is our loving Father
like the prodigal’s father
running out to the road to greet us
to bring us back home…
 
But God too is the righteous Judge
the jealous God of scripture
God commands us to love Him
before all other things…
 
We cannot approach Him
our sin casts us away
we are covered with the stain
of false gods in our way…
 
A Holy God sent Jesus
His only Son in the flesh
He made a way to save us
in His blood we are blessed…

Seek the path of God
conform your steps
turn from the flesh
trust God with the truth…
 
Name your sins, your truth,
every way you have been disobedient,
wick them of their power
to control your life…
 
Be open and transparent,

for God knows already

No Condemnation

Come to the Father, transparent,
open your heart to Him,
God loves you immeasurably
sending His only Son
redeeming your soul forever
nailed to the rugged cross…
 
There is no condemnation
for any sin we confess
God knows everything already
that is why Christ died for us
because we could not quench
God’s wrath for what we had done…

Surrender them to God

 
your fears, your worries,
your ancient buried hurts
the stones, the chains you carry,
surrender them to God…
 
God wants you to be happy
to have abundance in this life
Christ is our sacrifice,
to restore us to God…
 
we don’t have to fear
to walk under these burdens,
share them openly, fully,
surrender them to God…
 
God wants you to be restored
to have joy in this life
Christ is the way, the gate,
to restore us to God…

Dreading the unknown
fearing what-if
a drumbeat of fear
destroying all else…
 
A slave to fear, frozen,
not taking a step

Fear below the surface, hidden,
buried in our DNA,
the curse of losing memory,
of losing ourselves…
 
the roulette wheel silent
wanting to spin, to find out,
if the ball will fall on my spot
or will I dodge the bullet…
 
a deep wound, a fear,
are the odds stacked against us
what is that probability that
we will lose all of us…

That Sword of Damocles

That sword of Damocles,
a ticking time bomb,
a minefield before me,
that curse, that marker,
that latent danger lurking,
just below the water line
an ancient fear nascent,
that may yet be revealed...
 
Unspoken terror, oblivion,
urges me on in this moment
sharing fervently, gifted,
knowing only the present
the threat remains hidden
outside of my vision
a sword of Damocles remaining
just out of reach...
