They need you now
Taras, your beloved,
your people, your nation
suffering in Ukraine...
 
Fly Taras, arise
from your slumber
on your hill above the Dnipro
to the capital, Kyiv...
 
Bind the wounds
of your good people...
Unite them with you
in their love of Ukraine...
 
Fly Taras, oh spirit,
as you flew from your prison
to the land of your mother...
Fly over all of Ukraine now...
 
Ease their pain in this war,
in this time of great struggle...
Pour out Ukraine’s glory
that you hold inside...
 
Fly Taras, eternal Kobzar,
Pray a blessing over them...
Offer a balm in their turmoil,
Grant to Ukraine a just peace...

This poem is in part an attempt to call on the spirit of Shevchenko
to calm the waters of the rift between Zelenskyy and Fedorov and to allow
all Ukrainians to be united, because you must.
