broken for my sin – v3

looking down at my hands
the blood-stained bread;
we see the brokenness of Christ
ripped apart, broken on the cross.

held there with the nails
the spikes of my rebellion
my disobedience to God;
my blood poured out,
his body broken for my sin
by what I have done.

I am broken in this life
separated from God;
I am healed by the blood of Christ
poured at the cross.

God’s plan through Christ

God’s plan worked out
God’s love revealed
through the person of Christ
His journey in life
Descending from the heavenly realm
cloaked in the dust of the earth
choosing to submit himself
even unto Death.

in our wagon – v3

when we cry out to God
tired on the journey
losing joy in the process
feeling like it is too much,
carrying too great a load.

in truth it is ourselves,
seeking to help others,
the weight in our wagon
in not trusting in God
we become tired, sore.

the yoke becoming too heavy
carrying rocks, stones that are not
ours to carry, not our gifts
which God has given us
for the tasks on our true path

when we accept the requests
bearing others’ burdens
their call from God,
we become tired ourselves,
carrying stones that are not ours to carry

the yoke is actually light
that which God gives us
to carry in this life,
using our gifts for the kingdom
for the glory of God

a taking away – v2

a taking away
of the clutter, the world
anything in the way
between us and God
on our Lenten journey.

a taking away
an adding on
adding the discipline
of spending time
in Your word

a giving back,
a taking away,
our time, our attention
setting God as a priority
in the Lenten journey.

a drawing closer
in this time of journey
turning with Christ
to Jerusalem,
to the Cross.

worship springing – v4

worship springing
joy overflowing
from the well of our bodies
our spirits, our beings
bursting forth in song

worship springing
joy overflowing
Christ walking with us
God’s Spirit within
love coming beside us

worship springing
joy overflowing
up from our bodies;
God’s Spirit within
going out into the world

filtered by your presence
tested by the Spirit
checking the source
of each word
every thought in my head.

refined by the fire
the flames of the Spirit
to speak only words
these words of Jesus
given in love.
