summer birches – v4

The same stand of birches
growing between the north bound
and south bound Route 95
up here in northern Maine.

The same stand of birches
drawing my eye, my attention
early yesterday morning, sunshine,
on the way to Bangor, again.

The same stand of birches
now summer birches
the young maples growing
up in the glade, the opening.

The same stand of birches
between the groomed way;
the bright young green
the white of the trunk
basking in the sun as I drive by.
