Not like the rich man
his wealth not the issue,
not his treasure, his possessions,
that created his distance from God.
Pride in his piety, certain,
his holiness itself was the wall,
leading him to question the Creator.
the justice of God
God’s response, the human before him,
a perspective made clear
in the wisdom of the ages
that was far beyond him.
Our place in the order
God’s plan for the universe,
by reverence, repentance alone,
made right before God
