cloaked in the smoke – v2

cloaked in the smoke
the burning of the palms
wearing the ashes
the reminder of our pain
of our distance from grace,
for the cross of Jesus,
and for the choice He made.

redeeming us, children of the dust
of the clay, broken people
unable to repay;
cloaked in smoke
remembering our rebellion,
singing hosannas when He came
so soon shouts to crucify
the living Son of Man
