the anger of the fire
the words burned up
hosannas set ablaze
becoming mere dust
lost in the moment
the rage of Friday
the spark of that word
the anger of the fire
cutting so deeply
“Crucify, crucify”,
to kill our Savior
the One long foretold
the anger of the fire
wicking the celebration
consuming our joy
all our hopes
hosannas burning
becoming dust, ashes
the anger of the fire
the mob of Friday
the spark of that word
producing ashes
Joy burned away
only Sorrow remaining
the anger of the fire
the chaos of that week
reaping the whirlwind
the palms burning
a witness, a mirror
for a people of dust
