Together walking
on this journey
this journey of faith
our eyes on the cross
the gift of God
of Christ’s sacrifice
focused on love
the depth of God’s grace.

Through the gate of the cross - 2
If we are his disciples
Christ’s hands and feet now
if we believe God’s message
the saving of all
if we turn from our path
rejecting our sin
We will follow
through the gate of the cross
returning from our death
our time in that foreign land
into the light of your grace
into that brighter day

As the word is made alive

Use these gifts
Our prayer together
as we gather these gifts
that You would use them Lord
to stretch out our hands
our hearts further
to share Your word
beyond these four walls
out into Your world
to heal our neighbors
our brothers, our sisters
all of us worthy

To Walk on Solid Water
The water the same
the challenge just as real
winds still blowing
over the face of the deep
The earth so like the void
the hand of God, His breath
His voice still calling
come, follow me
To walk on solid water
given substance by our faith
believing it will hold us
by trusting in our God
Following Christ’s calling
the words of the indwelling Spirit
walking humbly ever
sharing the message of God
July 2, 2011
written after rereading the poem,
“We Can Walk on Water”,
after posting it to www.christianpoetry.org
July 1, 2011
Like Peter, you and I
we can walk on water
trusting in Christ
our eyes ever on him
ignoring the winds all around
reaching ever for him
going where he calls us
longing to walk
in the footsteps of Christ
in the way of the disciples;
needing to climb over the gunnels
to live by our faith

the challenge just as real
winds still blowing
over the face of the deep
The earth so like the void
the hand of God, His breath
His voice still calling
come, follow me
To walk on solid water
given substance by our faith
believing it will hold us
by trusting in our God
Following Christ’s calling
the words of the indwelling Spirit
walking humbly ever
sharing the message of God

“We Can Walk on Water”,

Like Peter, you and I
we can walk on water
trusting in Christ
our eyes ever on him
ignoring the winds all around
reaching ever for him
going where he calls us
longing to walk
in the footsteps of Christ
in the way of the disciples;
needing to climb over the gunnels
to live by our faith
to stand on solid water

Writing Poetry
In the Echo of the Towers
The cost of freedom from the beginning
in the snows of Valley Forge,
the fields of Gettysburg,
the tomb of the Arizona,
and the rubble of the Twin Towers
In the echo of the towers
the cries of our people
the resolve to stand together
against all forms of tyranny
One since the beginning
the idea of this nation
freedom for all people
though we struggle to achieve this
In our humanness, our frailty
stubbornly holding onto power
clouding our judgments
yet holding onto our creed
Our beliefs as a people
still striving onward
together as one nation
to achieve as a people
the hope of our common dream
