In the Silence of the Mist

Not fog exactly, yet not sunrise
the morning encased, held
in the silence of the mist
I hear the sound of the traffic
the few cars driving by
seemingly trying to be quiet
to make the breath of a sound
The world asleep around
even the birds slow to awake
lingering in the stillness of the morning
before the coming of daybreak
