In Connection – v4

Part of the process,
like Christ, into the water,
a baptism into the faith
affirming the connection
with all who have gone before
into the waters with Christ.

Dying to the world, our old selves
up from the waters,
Beloved of God;
Living, worshiping together
in connection with our Lord
with our God.

Calling the indwelling of the Spirit
to change our lives
from the inside out;
Rising from the water
into a new life
a life in the Spirit of God.

Streams of Water – v5

Water connecting us, flowing,
living streams of water
all around the world;
Moving, in concert,
across the face of the globe.
All of us together
through time and space;
Moving, ever in motion,
the living waters of life.

In our baptism, washed by the waters,
flowing ever, connecting us;
With John in the wilderness,
with Christ, dying into the waters,
rising into the Spirit.
Washed clean, made holy,
our lives forever changed;
Moving with the waters,
living waters within our hearts.

Beloved of God – v4

We, the children, baptized like Jesus
Beloved of God, children, brothers and sisters
with Christ, with one another, connected,
sharing in the cleansing, in the changing
our lives no longer our own, but God’s
given to God, empty, to be filled
for a purpose, for God’s pleasure

Becoming one with the church
the Spirit falling upon us, water,
indwelling within our hearts, power;
forever changed, as when David was anointed,
when Paul fell blind on the Damascus Road,
when Christ revealed himself to Cleopas and the other,
and when the Spirit fell on Pentecost
and upon Cornelius, all the others throughout time

Bodily, into the waters with Christ
drowning, dying to ourselves;
up from the waters in praise
to grow and serve with Him;
yoked with our Savior, the Spirit within,
to spread the Good News, life,
to the ends of the earth

In Connection – v3

a wonderful affirmation
joy in this moment
part of the process
like Christ, into the water
a baptism into the faith

the water a means
affirming the connection
with all who have gone before
into the waters with Christ
dying to the world, our old selves

up from the waters,
Beloved of God,
living, worshiping together
in connection with our Lord
and with Almighty God

calling the indwelling
of the Spirit, of God’s presence,
come to redeem us
changing our lives
from the inside out.
