In Everything

Stopping to acknowledge
his power, his grace, his mercy
stopping to thank God
in everything we do
every day of our lives
all a gift from God
out of his abiding love

Blind to His Presence

All law, all prophecy
abiding in fulfillment
standing on the land
promised by the Lord

God himself with us
on this mortal coil
descended from heaven
that we would be restored

Yet the people blind
unable to see their joy
the prince of heaven
standing in their midst

Blind to his presence
grace alive with them
love become a man
to heal the ancient breach

A Fire to the Earth

The searing heat of truth
the burning of the light
as at creation
piercing the darkness
the day dividing the night

A fire to the earth
the coming of our savior
his baptism on the cross
the grave, to rise again

In him alone salvation
our choice to the end
through him alone reconciliation
union with our creator
but our choice too damnation
if we choose the world
rejecting our savior
death evermore

Spiritual Eyes

In the breaking of bread
the scales falling away
spiritual eyes opened
the revelation of Jesus
the parts falling together
in our complete whole

All the disciples
down to this age
able to glimpse Jesus
in the pages of scripture
in the stories of faith
living still today

Called to be witnesses
to share the image
the story for the ages
bringing the Christ
the face of Jesus
God with us
to the end of the age.

The Light of God’s Glory

With new eyes to see
shining in brilliance
the light of God’s glory
for all the world to see

Like the blind beggar
given new eyes
bringing others to Jesus
into his presence indeed

Hope for all
in the radiance of his light
our story to share
in his healing, our delight.

God Knows Us

Every facet, every detail
things no one would know
things even we would forget
everything about us
known by God alone

God knows us
all of our life
in ways full and complete
with us all of our days
walking with us on the path

The creator of the universe
the savior of man
the spirit with us
deep in our hearts
going as we walk the land.

Knowing Us

Like Jesus at the well
knowing her fully
all about her
God knowing us
all that we are
all we hope to be

Living in communion
with an intimate God
loving us anyway
as flawed as we are
offering relationship
our hope in him alone

Ever and always
our savior, our God
walking beside us
in the struggles of life
guiding our steps
safely to the other side

Times of Silence

Slowing the noise
the constant din
the busyness of life
that God may enter in

He is already here
we are the problem
needing silence
to feel him by our side

Take time, precious moments
centered on God
listening for his voice
calling from the silence
that we would hear his message
love for the whole world.

Words of Instruction

The final words of Jesus
before he left the earth
words of instruction
commissioning us for work
to go and make disciples
baptizing them in God’s name
going to the ends of the earth
until Jesus comes again

Telling us to teach
what he said and did
the spirit of the law
not just the ancient words
but the living out of faith
loving our neighbors
as we journey on the way

“This is a very powerful message and one that needs repeating. We as Christian deny Christ when we do not live out the Great Commission by creating barriers, stumbling blocks to Christ. We must be sowing joy, not judgment, love not division, hope not condemnation, agape love not the values of the world. Only in this are we fulfilling our call, using our gifts for God's glory.”

No matter what kind of ground it falls upon, whether hardpan or

Fully His

Like Mary at his feet
like children without guile
humbly before our king
being fully his

Emptied of the world
my history poured out
dying with him
that I may rise again

Being filled by the grace of God
sent to do his work
to all my neighbors
humbly as a child

Without Power or Station

Coming to you
my creator, my God
without power or station
humbly, as a child

Hoping you will give
a message for my life
that I would be faithful
open as a child
to humbly do your work

Answering your call
with the wonder of a child
uncluttered joy
going where I am sent
giving you my all

In Awe

Humbly, aware
our distance from you
in your image
but a reflection alone
In awe before you
as a child, on my knees
amazed that you are aware
aware of even me

Open to you, may I ever be
your servant oh Lord
in all I say and do
seeking your face
humbly, on my knees
to come into your courts
to sit at your feet

In Abandonment Only

In abandonment only
in being poured out
coming to God’s throne
the altar of the cross

Being poured out
empty, as a child,
full only with wonder
not the baggage of the world

Open to your call
to be filled by God
in abandonment only
able to receive the word.

The Author of Creation

From nothing
a single moment of time
God creating all
out of his endless love

The author of creation
onto a blank slate
conjuring all that is
from a moment of light
piercing the darkness
until the end of time

God the planner
the artist making
designing all perfectly
the author of creation
in him all that is.

Polished in the Crashing Waves

I am changed
water, alive
the storms raging
all around me
holding onto thee

Polished in the crashing waves
at the edge of the seas
hope in you alone
bowing at your feet
humbly, on my knees

Lift me up Lord
let me walk with you
guide where I am to go
answering your servant call
cleanse me in the fire
make me fully whole

Victory in Jesus

Fear not the devil
stalking the earth
stand strong in the savior

Victory in Jesus
sealing the breach
defeating the devil
if we let him in

a hope abiding
that seed planted
living in our hearts

Proclaim our faith
so others would come
becoming his disciples

Equally Blessed

In the marriage bonds
none superior
all equally blessed
by the grace of God
each one saved
from the pit, death
each should love the others
with complete respect.

Better Fruits

From new shoots rising
tender and green
better fruits coming
when we are centered in the Lord

One vine, one people
yet we must do our part
faithful in our growing
to bear better fruits for the harvest
worthy of his grace
abiding in the vine
walking the way of the cross

Bad Vines

Seeds planted in good soil
loved by the owner
watered and cared for
yet producing no good fruit

Bad vines only
a bitter harvest
yet the roots still green
worthy, in the ground

From the root new life
the people to be reborn
if we turn to our master
the vine will be restored

Remember Your Love

In this world of darkness
feeling somehow alone
seeking your face oh Lord
to fee the touch of your hand

Remember your love
your presence in times of old
nurture the roots of your garden
that there would be fruits once more

Our best we offer oh God
Our one hope in you
give us life oh Lord
let us walk in you

Growing in the arms of your love
redeemed and made whole
rising from the depths of the grave
in you we are restored

Oh God, water your garden
pour out your grace
on the dormant vineyard
that we may grow in your love

The roots still green
the shoots yet alive
under the layer of sin
in you will we thrive

Look upon us with favor
hear our lament
let us draw near to you

the vine a shoot within them

Our Gifts for Others

The work of the kingdom
to restore our neighbors
all of the world
the children of God

Our gifts for others
our bodies mere vessels
to be filled with God’s love
that grace may be poured out

To be used not hidden
the message to be shared
the love of the creator
for everyone everywhere

my comment posted to this post:
“This is a very powerful message and one that needs repeating. We as Christian deny Christ when we do not live out the Great Commission by creating barriers, stumbling blocks to Christ. We must be sowing joy, not judgment, love not division, hope not condemnation, agape love not the values of the world. Only in this are we fulfilling our call, using our gifts for God's glory.”

“ Jesus’ parable of the Sower focuses on the scattering of the seed.
No matter what kind of ground it falls upon, whether hardpan or
deep rich soil, God will have a harvest yielding a hundred fold.
So, scattering the seed aimlessly is not wasteful in God’s economy.”

Using Our Gifts

spending time in the vineyard, the field,
the orchard, using our gifts, to be messengers,
to be brothers, sisters, to be hands and feet
to be the light in the world, the light to the nations
in our time, in our place, to be the word, the hands
of the savior, the loving hands of God, healing,
lifting, comforting our neighbors, all of them,
lending a hand, a kind word, good works,
and the message of redemption, of saving grace
using the gifts we have been given, all important
to the work of the church, of spreading the good news
to all the nations, all the world

using His gifts

each day, giving praise
thanksgiving to the Lord
using His gifts
to ease our neighbor’s way

taken away

yoked with him

we have been given
each and every day

When Christ Comes

The stump growing
the whole world to be transformed
the coming of Jesus
sorrow no more

When Christ comes
perfect in his wisdom
justice in his actions
power in his judgment
peace brought to the earth

All creation reconciled
calling all to him
from the ends of the earth
washing away our sin
bringing us home in him.

In the Season of Judgment

Center on God
into his arms
within his robe
a sanctuary of life
the flood waters coming
the raging wildfire
the evil in the world
about to be wiped out

Wisdom leading
calling me to him
entering in
sealed within the law
fearing God

Before Immanuel

The prophet foretelling
the birth to the virgin
Immanuel, God with us,
from the holy seed
buried in the ground
as God had promised

Before Immanuel
the people to be ravaged
other peoples becoming God’s agents
his holy plans to achieve;
the land barren
in this season
dormant until his coming;

Not utterly forsaken

sent to the winds

not uprooted or burned

dormant for this season
buried in the ground
to rise in glory

I saw the Lord

Can you imagine the bold statement
shared by Isaiah
I saw the Lord
high on his throne
the courts of his temple
the fabric of his robe
within the clouds of heaven
burning brightly, sights
wonders unknown

Burning Coals

The coals burning our lips
our confession of sin
cleansed on the altar
dying with him

Commissioned like Isaiah
to boldly speak the truth
a calling of God
to accept his holy work.

The Fulfillment

Unable to see
what was to be
fulfillment in his life
the signs right before them

Christ standing
talking to them
the world aligned
to fulfill all prophecy.

Sheep and Goats

Christ come to divide
while he will unite in love
the choice of salvation
still in human hands

Will we follow
go where we are called
or will we turn away
following the world alone?

Made of Clay

Without God empty
made of clay
inert matter
needing his spirit
his breath
giving me life

To go and serve
as the master commands
his hands and feet
his voice
in these troubled lands

Sent forth by our savior
commissioned with them
to make disciples
follow, sheep of our shepherd
our bodies turned over
vessels emptied
so we may be filled with God

“ Jesus’ parable of the Sower focuses on the scattering of the seed.
No matter what kind of ground it falls upon, whether hardpan or
deep rich soil, God will have a harvest yielding a hundred fold.
So, scattering the seed aimlessly is not wasteful in God’s economy.”

In every encounter

In ever encounter
every moment of our lives
teaching something of Jesus
if we let him guide our feet

Living out the Great Commission
the calling of each person
to be a disciple in our lives
sharing Christ with the world

All of us worthy
all of us sent forth
to carry on his mission
to save the whole world

my comment posted to this post:
“This is a very powerful message and one that needs repeating. We as Christian deny Christ when we do not live out the Great Commission by creating barriers, stumbling blocks to Christ. We must be sowing joy, not judgment, love not division, hope not condemnation, agape love not the values of the world. Only in this are we fulfilling our call, using our gifts for God's glory.”
