threads pulled – v2

other branches joined
made part of the tree
other threads joined
coming into union
into a beautiful image
a tapestry, on a loom
intertwined colors, pulled
coming together;
as the roots of the redwood
woven one to another
healed in the union
standing throughout time

stronger in union
threads woven together
against the winds, the storms
seeking the Christ,
longing for comfort
safe from all harm;
braced together
intertwined, a single image,
knitted hands and fingers
joining in the struggles
like a Chinese finger trap
tighter when we are under stress

but what happens when
the tapestry unraveling
threads pulled bodily
out of the tree, the body
when some are judged unworthy
by code, our rule, or finding
unable to serve God
to speak within the body
pulled from the tapestry
the picture incomplete
together the face of Christ
his hands and feet

In the Mist of the Morning – v5

In the mist of this morning
my eyes traveling, drawn,
moving from side to side
The forest revealing its secrets
to the staccato of the wipers
the woods as I drive by

In the mist of the morning
softer shades and hues
shafts of brightness
Filtered light coming
the forest awakening
as I drive on by

Right with God – v3

Only in our faith in Christ
made right with God
redeeming the lost
raised from the dead
sealing the breach
the chasm between God and man

Eternal peace,
not earthly favor,
washed clean of our sin
anticipating eternity
our heavenly reward
when our work here is done

Supported by the roots – v2

though some branches cut off
dead, withered,
into the fire
new branches grafted in
all in the one tree
the living people of God

Supported by the roots
the people of old
the faithfulness of the tribes
the wayward children
chosen by God

all one tree, one body
all from the same roots,
living together
held in God’s arms
supported by the roots
the living people of God

kneeling before Jesus – v5

a witness of salvation
of sight by faith
Jairus, the synagogue leader,
risking his reputation
kneeling before Jesus
calling him to heal her
to come to his daughter
dying in her bed

a witness of salvation
of sight by faith
risking his reputation
his position, his standing
but kneeling before Jesus
to heal his daughter’s illness
courageous submission
love over position

the what I must dread – v3

the demon I carry
inside of me, unspoken,
a great darkness
the demons lurking
in the darkness, surrounding

the what I must dread
hidden deep within us
God protect us
from evil, dark passions
the dust, the earth

the beast we must not name
or else we give it power
the darkness, within,
seeking to destroy us
to pull us within
