woken from slumber
more powerful, urgent
a rider, a beast
a mammal,
or more ancient
a rider awakens
our masters within
deep and abiding
connected to nerve endings
fight or flight
alive within us
usurping power
the snake, the monster
taking control
of our bodies
woken from slumber
more powerful, urgent
the rider driving
raging within us
deep in our souls
