Being Saved is a Gift of God – v3

We think we must earn everything

believing we are all self-made people,

relying on ourselves alone

with a price on all we do;

how we relate to the world

as if stones on a scale

something to balance

more good than bad

cosmic karma, earning salvation;

yet we don’t understand

that is not part of God’s plan

Being saved is a gift of God

a free gift of heaven

unmerited, pure love,

no price to me and you;

a sacrifice, freely given

how God relates to the world

created from air, from the void

all mercy, compassion;

we must just believe, trust,

that this is part of God’s plan,

a gift for you and me

Objects of Wrath – v6

In our baser nature

we are lost, separated from God;

We are objects of wrath

until we believe.

We are convicted under the Law

with no hope of salvation;

Only by God’s mercy

are we saved from the grave.

The Veil taken away – v4

Moses’ veil, his face hidden,

not able to be seen by the children

separation from the people;

The Law given by God’s messenger

a singular go-between

between God and Man.

Light passed from the cloud,

upon the mountain

to the Lord in Transfiguration;

Transformed, transferred

His Body aglow, God in the Flesh,

Creating union.

The third act, the tearing,

of the curtain, in the Temple

the separation no more;

The veil torn away

We are all able to reach God,

we have life forevermore.

We are now able to

reclaim the Presence

the direct relationship,

lost in the Garden;

The closeness, one on one

through Christ,

and with God.

The Veil taken away – v3

Moses’ veil, his face hidden,

That detestable thing – v2

To be forced to look up,

a punishment for sin,

for disobedience to God

to the leaders God gave us

to look up at that detestable thing

a snake made of bronze

Humbling the wayward people

complaining in the desert

challenging the will of God

doubting in God’s provision

A snake, the serpent,

which cast man out of the Garden

a reminder of the power of God

to these His wayward children

By our baser nature

we are lost, pulled

away from the love of God

objects of wrath

until we believe

Convicted under the law

outside the law

no hope of salvation

only by God’s mercy

saved from the damned

a base instinct guiding

the cravings of our sinful nature

walking away from our God

all of us before we repent

destined for the pit, damnation

needing the Spirit

the light of God within us

needing the sacrifice of Christ

to be redeemed

We are Clay of God’s Earth – v2

No more than dust, ashes

merely clay of God’s earth

made alive by His touch, His hand

gathered and molded

shaped for God’s purpose

Merely clay of His earth

given meaning, identity

His children on earth

No more than dust, ashes

given life by God’s breath

The Spirit abiding

as we live in the vine

His creation, His people

all people on earth

God wants to give us life

Given life by God’s breath

The Veil taken away – v2

Moses’ veil, his face hidden,

not able to be seen

separation from the people

the Law given by his messenger

a singular go-between

between God and man

Transformed, transferred

to the Lord in transfiguration

Body aglow, God in the flesh,

Creating union,

light passed from the cloud,

on the mountain

The third act, the tearing

of the curtain,

the separation;

The veil torn away

able to reach God

forevermore.

We are now able to

reclaim the presence

the direct relationship

The closeness,

one on one

through Christ,

and with God.
