I trust God to heal me

God has brought me here for a reason
this time is no accident, chance,
this moment is a divine appointment
God has brought me here to heal me…

I trust God to heal me
because God has shown me He loves me
He has saved me from death
innumerable times before…

I may be lost, I may be broken,
but I am redeemed, a gift,
I am here for a purpose,
God has told me so…

I trust God to heal me
but I must submit to His correction,
God will restore my life
as He has done countless times before…

Worse than most

The challenge in their question,
how I see myself, a sinner,
echoes of the tax collector,
his prayer, my thoughts…

Worse than most,
my sins feel like weights,
a burden on my spirit,
all that I have lost…

I am in sackcloth and ashes,
repentant of my ways,
I long to walk with Jesus,
the Savior of my days…

Christ came for me

Christ came for me,
for those who are lost,
sinners estranged from God,
for me, for all of us…

Christ knew me completely,
thousands of years before my existence
He chose to climb the cross
for me, for all of us…

Christ loved me fully,
that is why He descended,
to redeem us from damnation,
for me, for all of us…

The Smell of the Burning Palms – v7 #AshWednesday #PalmSunday #ashes

Acrid smoke, tasting it, palpable, burning,
filling my lungs, my spirit,
to remember, to prepare;
Smoke, the fire, flames,
still fresh in my memory.

How quickly they burn, they burned;
Taste the sacrifice, the dying,
smell of the burning palms
smoke thick, wrapping round me
as our joy burned away.

Ashes gray, thick before us;
a presence, this humble offering
sitting on the altar, waiting for us;
Praying deeply, listening to the words,
reminding us of Christ’s sacrifice –

His life for the whole world.

I must forgive them – v3

I must forgive them
though I don’t want to
for they have hurt me
the pain remains;
I cannot hit them first
with a rock, a brick;
I must let them go
my hands released,
removed from their throats…
I must forgive them
I must give them to God
for my own sake
if for nothing else
