Still fresh in my
memory
so thick I can
taste this
the smell of the
burning palms
the smoke thick,
wrapping round me
as the joy burned
away
The ashes gray,
silent before us
sitting on the
altar waiting for us
to make us with
the dust
praying deeply,
listening to the words
marking us with Christ’s
sacrifice
